Cendekia Iklim Indonesia Joins GRASP 2030 to Reduce Food Loss and Waste
28 November 2025
Indonesia loses between 23–48 million tons of food every year. The economic value reaches IDR 213–551 trillion—equivalent to 4–5% of the national GDP. But the impact extends far beyond the economy, this amount of food could have fed up to 125 million people and it contributes around 85 million tons of CO₂e greenhouse gas emissions annually. Reducing food loss and waste is not just about efficiency. It is a climate action, a social mission, and a humanitarian responsibility. (Source: Bappenas, 2021)
A National Vision for Food System Transformation
According to the National Roadmap for Food Loss and Waste Reduction by the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Indonesia aims to reduce food loss and waste by 75% by 2045.
Achieving this ambitious target requires collaboration across sectors—public, private, and civil society. One of the platforms enabling this collaboration is GRASP 2030 (Gotong Royong Atasi Susut dan Sisa Pangan), an initiative led by the Indonesian Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) and supported by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme).
Cendekia Iklim Indonesia Officially Joins the Movement
In conjunction with the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW) on 1 October 2025, Cendekia Iklim Indonesia (CII) officially joined GRASP 2030 as an Associate Signatory. Through this commitment, CII strengthens its dedication to delivering data-driven and system-based solutions to reduce food loss and waste, advancing climate action and resource efficiency across sectors, and linking scientific approaches with tangible social and economic impacts.
A Shared Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Together with fellow GRASP 2030 signatories, CII believes that reducing food loss and waste means protecting the climate, strengthening food security, and building a fairer, more sustainable future for all.
It's time to work hand in hand—to ensure that every resource nourishes people and the planet, not the landfill.
Join the #GRASP2030 movement and be part of Indonesia’s collective action for a zero-waste, climate-resilient future.
